The VILLA KALOS idea has been ripening for several years. In the Summer of 2007 its owners, Gerda Genis and Robbert Koene, both celebrated photographers in South Africa, finally decided to carry it out. Thus the story was born about a brand new dwelling as well as a new way of spending one's holidays and leisure time. The idea is to offer all those who like to spend their holidays in the countryside and are looking for an intimate environment on one side, yet furnished and completed with the top-quality details on the other, a place where all this is actually possible.
Only 4 years ago, Villa Kalos was still a ruin, completely abandoned, when Gerda and Robbert saw the potential. With much love and care and lots of help from the locals, they transformed this ruin into an exquisitely luxurious, yet completely unpretentious boutique villa that will open for guests in 2011. The first of its kind in Ithaka.
Villa Kalos is now the kind of place you dream about. The Villa is situated on 6000 square meter of terraced property overlooking the country side of Lahos in Ithaka, and offers absolutely everything that any of your senses would want from a Ionian holiday.
The views of the countryside, the almond trees surrounding the villa, the salt-water pool, the magnificent garden that changes with the seasons, the olive groves, — there is absolutely no reason to leave this place. Ever. You can spent hours just wandering around lazily and barefooted, gazing at the vistas, listening to the goats — no social networking, no technology, just peace and quiet. There is a slowness of time here.
